Only fish that are the same species can mate, so I dont' know what you mean by regular fish, but if they aren't the same species as the algae eater, they cannot mate. (That would be like a dog mating with a cat.)
not that i know of i have one and they are very nice and peaceful typically so i don;y think you have anything to worry about
Yes I doent see why not the alge eater should not eat the gold fish
There are some fish species that only eat algae, there are others that will eat a bit of algae, and there are others who will not eat algae at all.
Some Algae eaters are a bit clumsy and have been known to 'latch' onto the sides of other fish like Angel fish or Discus. They do not however "eat" the fish.
yes they will eat anything but not gold fish food
YES I put one with my betta and they seem to be doing great. You just don't want to put another betta together but as long as the fish don't look to similar they will be fine.
Yes, especially larger Plecos.
No he's not.
I do not know of any Algae eaters that can live in cold water . Goldfish are cold water fish. So unless you can find some species of cold water algae eater the answer is no they can not be kept together successfully.
yes algae eaters do eat dead fish because as i type this my algae eater is feasting on a dead goldfish!
Try bottom cleaners, algae eaters, black moors, and guppies for sure.
Plecos' are algae eaters (basically vegetarians). Goldfish are plant, insect, crustacea and fish eaters. (basically omnivourous). What do you think? Work it out!
You rehome the Algae Eaters. Chinese Algae Eaters, what you have, are hardy tropical fish that turn increasingly predatory as they age. They will not stop sucking of slime coat of Goldfish or any other fish who holds still long enough. They are also capable of taking out eyeballs or even eating smaller fish entirely who sit still too long.
It depends, if your goldfish are smaller than your algae eater, and big enough to fit in it's mouth, then very much so. If the goldfish are small, but too big to fit into your algae eater's mouth, then he might just injure them. But your algae eater shouldn't be so small that your goldfish could eat it. The rule with fish that I always go by is, if it can fit into it's mouth, it will be eaten.
Plecostomus are algae eaters they are not carnivores. They are also tropical fish so they should never be in an aquarium with coldwater fish like goldfish. If your Plecco is eating your goldfish you must be doing something very very wrong. Work it out. They can live with your goldfish but this may happen, This is because you are not feeding them enough most likely.
If you mean a Pleco, they lay eggs.
My neon tetras lived with a couple of algae eaters quite happily (I think. It was difficult to ask them).
no they do not any type of algae eaters only eat algae that has grown on your tanks glass
Because when a Algae Eater becomes fully grown it likes to eat the slime coat off the other fish. ( NOT all Algae eaters though) for example the Chinese Algae Eater WILL eat the slime coat off the other fish when it is fully grown.
