No, a bad distributor cap will not damage new spark plugs.
What does cause damage to spark plugs includes:
There may be some other causes for damage to spark plugs that I cannot think of at this time.
Remove the spark plug wire caps from the spark plugs. Remove the spark plugs by turning them to the left with a 5/8 deep well socket.
Remove the fuel tank, Remove air box, Remove spark plug caps, Remove spark plugs ????
on the sides of the block are 2 square caps with phillps screws those are your spark plugs
Under to black rubber caps on the very top of the engine. Remove the black caps and the plugs are reset about 4 inches down.
I can't located the spark plugs on my 2001 aurora 6v 3.5 engline the plugs are under the gray caps inthe front center of the motor and in the rear center they are a pain to do
Consult the 2006 Vitara owner's manual to change spark plugs and fix the throttle. Remove the spark plug covers by pulling the caps. Use a spark plug socket to remove the old spark plugs. Use the same tool to place the new spark plugs. Replace the spark plug caps. Locate the throttle compartment under the hood. Use a wrench to loosen the nut around attached to the throttle. Adjusting this nut and cable to the throttle will in turn change the amount of RPMs.
If you are referring to the 4 cyl engine, there are caps covering the spark plugs and you can remove the caps with a Philips head screwdriver. Gently pulling the plastic up will reveal the rubber hole cover and the spark plug hole.
when you look at the top of the motor you will see four black plastic caps with wires going to them you need to take them off and you will need a long spark plug remover to get to the spark plugs but that is were they are located
Where they'd usually be. Near the exhaust manifold. There are rubber caps covering them, which just pop off. The rubber caps have wires coming off them, which go to your distributor.
If the engine is a 5.4L then the spark plugs are underneath these long wire caps. They sit deep in the engine so be careful when changing you can easily get them crossthreaded. They don't have much thread that goes into the hole.
All these are looking into the engine compartment from the front with the hood up. In a 4 cylinder they are on the right side just above the exhaust. In a 6 cyl they are going down both sides and are above the exhaust manifold. Same in a V8. Look on the right front of engine and you can see the distributor. Just follow the wires to the spark plugs and pull off the caps. Just dont pull on the wires when you get there pull on the caps.
On top of the engine there is a plastic plate with 6 or 8 screws in it. Take it off and you will see 2 coils and 2 rubber spark plug caps. Unbolt the coils and pull them off and the 2 spark plug caps. You will need a 3/4 recessed sparkplug socket to get them out. You can find them at autozone or similar auto part store
