No, if the oil pressure switch is bad it will just give you a false reading of your oil pressure.
yes yes yes!!!!! I can only say this about the chev 4.3 V6 the switch (sending unit for oil pressure) is wired to the fuel pump relay it can cause all kind of problems if it goes bad.......(and on this motor they go bad often)
No it will not.
It can.
Of which low pressure switch are you speaking? Engine oil pressure switch? If you're checking that, remove the oil pressure sending unit and temporarily put in an oil pressure gauge. If you're checking the AC low pressure switch, pull the switch from the AC low pressure line, Jumper the switch socket and see if the AC compressor comes on. If it does, you either have low refrigerant pressure or a bad switch. If you KNOW the pressure is up and everything else works, you have a bad switch.
no.
Bad oil pressure switch - $10 Clogged intake screen - $?? Bad oil pump - $1000 Worn bearings in engine - $a lot
Yes, oil can leak through the switch.
Make sure that there is power getting to the ac clutch when the switch is jumped. If the power is there then the clutch is bad and needs to be replaced.
Yes it can. Instead of an inertia switch, GM ran the fuel pump through the oil pressure switch. If the engine quits running and loses oil pressure but the key is still on, like say in an accident, the fuel pump is shut off as a safety precaution.
Any of the following................. 1. A bad pressure switch. 2. A bad pressure switch pigtail. 3. A bad clutch connector. 4. A bad ignition switch. 5. A bad a/c heater controller.
Bad oil pressure switch - $10 Clogged intake screen - $?? Bad oil pump - $1000 Worn bearings in engine - $a lot
Switch could be bad or the schraeder valvee the switch screws into could be bad
Either replace with a known good switch or with a manual oil pressure gauge
