Yes it could.
More likely it is the sending unit. I'd replace that first.
Yes. It could be the oil pressure sending unit. It is the plastic unit near the front of the car near the oil filter. It is a greenish color on my 99 stratus. i had mine looked at and that is what they said would cause the light to flicker.
Low oil pressure, which could be as a result of a low oil level, a bad oil pump, or a faulty sending unit.
The light is not a low oil light, it is a low oil pressure light. Yes, a weak pump will cause this. Also a bad oil pressure sending unit can cause this.
Faulty wiring.
bad oil pressure sending unit
They "sense" the oil pressure inside the engine. If you have an instrument panel oil pressure gauge the sending unit sends an analog signal to the gauge. If you have an oil pressure "idiot light", the sending unit turns the light on when the oil pressure is low.
No, a sending unit is for a gauge, and the switch is for a warning light.
Yes, if the oil pressure sending unit is bad the oil light may come on.
Low oil Low oil pressure Failed oil sending unit.
Check the oil sending unit.
the lights on the dash are as such, the left light is for the low oil pressure, the right light is low generator/alternator. The red light on the dash is for the cylinder head temp. if it exceeds a temp limit, it will light. when driving, or coming off the freeway, the oil pressure light might flicker, due to the change in pressure quickly. The generator light may flicker when 1st started or if the vehicle is ideling lower than required.
