Just about anything else that is in the goldfish family. Keep in mind that each fish should have a minimum of 10 US gallons of room, or growth stunting and radically shortened lifespans and disease are likely.

Provided your tank is large enough (1 goldfish should have at least 10 gallons of water to itself) you can add any of the coldwater species. Others of the many goldfish types, Golden or Silver Orf also come to mind as a pretty fish and then there are the coldwater catfish species. They all need the same ratio of water to fish which is "1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water". They all need a cycled filter present to remove the poisons they generate simply by breathing and pooing in the water and they all need to have at least 50% of their water changed each week to keep them healthy.

What is a good substitute for koi fish if you don't have a huge tank?

If you look around pet stores, they should have some Goldfish. There are Fantails and Shubunkin Goldfish. I got Shubunkin. But be careful if you put it in with Danios because I got mine yesterday and if the Danios are hungry thet might pick on the Shubunkin.

What is a shubunkin?

Will your shubunkin fish really grow 21-30 Inches?

No, shubunkin fish will grow 9 to 18 inches long (23 to 41 centimetres). Koi can certainly grow 21 to 30 inches in length provided they are living in the right type of environment such as a large pond.

My blackmoor fish is attacking my other goldfish i have a 30 liter tank the water is clean and i have a good filter it has killed one alread my brother is very upset why is the black moor doing this?

Your tank is far too small for keeping goldfish. The resident fish will try to kill any other fish that you add because it knows that it will die if other fish are in with it. A single goldfish grows to around 10 inches and needs at least 10 gallons (22.5 ltrs) of water to survive. When you take into consideration the fact that your tank is not filled to the top so it will probably only be holding around 20 ltrs the goldfish (Blackmoor) is already stressed.

Is the shubunkin ill the fish keeps swimming down to the bottom of the tank and as he reaches the bottom he flips onto his side and skims across the gravel only for a split second.is he ill?

Yes, you´re Shubunkin is sick and will most likely soon be dead. Sorry to tell you , but this is just the way it is. If you´ve other fish in the tank then it´s best to remove this sick fish a.s.a.p. and bring it to a separate tank. Check the tank for rotting plants, not eaten food, etc. Remove all of these as best as you can. Check the filter and air pump. If possible test the water in the tank for ammonia & nitrate. If you don´t want to test or can´t test the water, just gently replace half of the water with clean water of the same temperature and repeat this after one week. In theory you can give the sick Shubunkin medicine, in in practice this is not very useful. If you insist then you can treat the sick fish in the separate tank. Never use medicine in the main tank, if you´ve also other fish in it. If your Shubunkin is finally dead, give it a proper funeral: bury it in your garden and put flowers on top. If you do this the spirit of the fish will give you good luck to continue your aquarium hobby.

Blackmoor celestial fantail can any of these fish mate together living in an aquirium?

They are the same species and can obviously cross breed if they are given suitable conditions to breed in.

How can you tell if a shubunkin goldfish is pregnant and so how long before they have baby fish?

Goldfish use external fertilization to reproduce so pregnancy in a goldfish is impossible.

Why is your shubunkin staying on the top of the water?

Probably because it is gasping for oxygen. You need to do a water change pronto. Failure to act could easily kill the fish.
