As a general rule, they can enter the fugitive's property, but not anyone else's.

They must be physically aware, by sight or sound, that the fugitive is within the home, and that entering the home will not endanger anyone inside.

When someone accepts bail, they essentially form a contract in which they surrender several legal rights in return for being let out. Part of this agreement allows a bounty hunter to enter your property to re-arrest you if you attempt to escape.

They do not, however, have the right to enter a third party's residence without permission, even if the fugitive is inside. The third party hasn't signed any agreement with the state, so bounty hunters have no special rights when dealing with them.

------------------------------------------

It depends on the state. In Texas they cannot enter without permission.

Sec. 1702.3867. EXECUTION OF CAPIAS OR ARREST WARRANT; OFFENSE.

(a) A private investigator executing a capias or an arrest warrant on behalf of a bail bond surety may not:

(1) enter a residence without the consent of the occupants;

(2) execute the capias or warrant without written authorization from the surety;

(3) wear, carry, or display any uniform, badge, shield, or other insignia or emblem that implies that the private investigator is an employee, officer, or agent of the federal government, the state, or a political subdivision of the state;

Bail bondsmen/Bounty hunters/fugitive recovery agents are not law enforcement officials, They can not even obtain a search warrant to search anyones home,business or property...

The laws vary from state to state on what bounty hunters are legally allowed to do...

In some states if the bounty hunter whiteness's the fugitive enter your home then they can legally enter your home without permission and search for the fugitive.

They can only search for the fugitive in places where a person could hide,they are not allowed to search you or your personal belonging's as searching through your dresser drawer's, your desk, your wallet

,your pocketbook, your laptop/PC, your lockbox/safe ect.

Even if they did search your entire home and its contents they have no authority to arrest or charge you for anything they have found also they are not allowed to remove anything from the home except the fugitive and they can not confiscate any property whatsoever from the home even drugs,guns ect...

Federal agency's and state and local law enforcement are the only entities that can obtain a search warrant for a residence, bounty hunters, private investigators, bail bondsmen ect can not...

It depends. If it is your property and you are the bail jumper then you most likely gave them the right of entry when they posted the bond. If you are not the bail jumper then NO, they can not enter your home without your consent. They will tell you they can, THEY CAN"T. They have no more authority than the average citizen. Now if you are harboring the fugitive and they know he is in your home, they will simply call the cops and then you risk going to jail if you don't give him up. These TV shows where they are pushing their way into peoples homes, they could be charged with unlawful entry.

Added: The above is essentially the case in most jurisdictions. However, it must be kept in mind that bailbondsmen derive much of their authority from Common Law which differs in some respects from that of statute law. Bailbond Agents possess wider powers than constituted law enforcement agencies. Check the applicable laws of your state!
