Best Answer

If they get along, the female will lay eggs and the male will take care of them until they hatch. If the female is left in the same tank afterward though, she may try to eat the eggs and the male will fight her.

The male fish will take care of the young, once the female lays the eggs then remove the female from the tank or the male betta will injure or kill her. Can a male betta fish get pregnant ? The answer is no.

No Male bettas do not get pregnant, the betta splenden species like the veiltail you find in pet shops are egg layers.. the male fertilises eggs that the female drops when they embrace.

The eggs hatch after 2-3 days.

No. Bettas are egg layers. The males build bubble nests that the females will lay their eggs in. They don't give birth to live young.

Is there any negative effects placing gold fish with tropical fish?

Most fish get along well. However, do NOT mix betta fish with other fish. Not even another betta. You have to have a permit to have to betta fish in the same tank with eachother. Betta fish are only mixed to mate. Bettas are not born in the egg. They come out as a very small fish. After the betta babies have come out, all of the fish are seperated. Even the parents, if the betta babies are left in the tank with the others the betta parents are very likely to eat the others.
