Yes and it's not that difficult. The air bag must be removed and a large nut removed and a steering wheel puller to remove it. Removing the airbag is the hardest part. 2002's have 4 kind of triangle shaped holes on the back side of the steering wheel. Get a mirror and a flashlight so you can see in those holes. You will see something that looks like a small nail laying in there. That is actually a spring and you need a small straight screwdriver to stick in behind that spring and twist it to release that corner of the bag. you need to do that in each of the holes. It can be frustrating if you get one loose and then snap it back in while trying to get another one. On later chevy's there is just a small hole that you stick a nail or awl through to release it. They only have one hole on each side. Once the bag is loose it has yellow electrical leads going to it. be careful with those because they activate the air bags. It's actually a good ides to disconnect the battery about an hour before you start.

Have you checked the steering wheel?
The alignment is miss-set or the front suspension and steering is damaged, OR the steering coloum is broken or damaged
take it to the dealer........
on center of steering wheel
Have to replace the whole switch
Loose steering/suspension joints. Wheel balance. Damaged tire. Bent rim.
it could be the shearing pin fitted in most cars to stop thieves breaking the steering lock, could have been damaged when you took it out, or the splines on the lower knuckle joint not connected
Do you have a tilt steering wheel ?? If so then more then likely the wires are shorted out where the wheel tilts. Common problem.
A Rack and pinion. Your steering wheel turns a gear(or pinion). This gear moves a shaft side to side(rack). The shaft is attached to the wheels allowing you to steer. If the componets are damaged or the internal power steering parts are damaged it needs replaced.
you will need a special tool called a steering wheel puller. they are needed to compress the rings around the column and wheel and release it so you can remove the main nut.
It doesn't. Your face will be less damaged hitting the airbag than if it hits the steering wheel.
