No. medical marijuana is not legal in Texas so no doctor in their right mind would write a prescription for it unless they wanted to possibly face charges and lose their liscense to practice medicine.
There is a bill presented in February 2011 called HB 1491 that could legalize medical marijuana in the state of Texas and allow doctors to write recommendations for patients who suffer from illnesses that can be treated with medical cannabis. check out the Texas NORML page for more information: At Link.

Yes, they do exist. I saw a prescription tablet my doctor was using, it had an ad on it for the doctor's office to get them to prescribe for patients. They are prescribed for things like extreme pain due to cancer, and lack of appetite in anorexia.

No, not at this point in time. However, there is a ballot proposal which will be voted on in the November, 2010 elections, by the voters in California a prescription from a Doctor. You CAN buy medical marijuana NOW with a doctors prescription. The ballot proposal would allow persons to buy marijuana without a prescription.
