YES! Dogs can become very agitated and distressed when owners leave the home even for short periods of time. Some will whine, urinate (lose bladder control), bark, yelp, chew, scratch, etc. That is why some dog owners are better off placing their pets in cages while they are at work or out on errands.

Pets may be reluctant to caging at first, but soon get used to it. This is the best way to ensure pets do not become stressed out (and homes are not destroyed) in the absence of owners.
