Yes, a blown head gasket will allow coolant to enter the combustion chamber and the oil pan mixing with the oil. This will, if not repaired, slowly destroy the engine bearings and rings. STOP driving this car until you have this repaired.

Does a blown head gasket ruin an engine?

If the engine is run while the gasket is blown, the engine will overheat and eventually blow or seize up. If the gasket blew and engine was soon after turned off, there may be no further damage to the engine. Replacement of the gasket can get this engine in working condition.

Why is your 1998 Pontiac Sunfire leaking coolant?

because something in the coolant system has failed or is damaged, IE: hoses, radiator, water pump, head gasket. This is probably causing an overheating condition. If not, it will soon. Check to see if there is water in the engine oil. If so, it will look milky and indicates a failed head gasket. This is serious and needs to be addressed before you drive the car any further.

Failed head gasket couses?

A head gasket will usually fail when the engine overheats due to lack of coolant or extreme driving conditions. If head gasket jumped is he better to rebuilt the motor?

The four cylinder Fiero engine has a bad problem with cracking the cylinder head. If the gasket is bad it is likely the head will need an expensive repair. If the car has the V6 engine it is possible to just replace the gasket The real question is how good was the engine before the gasket failed? Should it be rebuilt or was it not burning oil and in good condition before the failure. Did the gasket failure cause any damage to the engine?
