Not to give you an abrupt answer, but no. While there IS a mechanism to apply for "relief of disability" for a person convicted of a Federal felony, there is no funding for this to be done, which means it does not happen.

There seems to be good news and bad news on tihs subject. Even if you officially apply to the court to have them restored there are certain offenses which will not qualify. AND - if you do qualify - you may own one (i.e.: keep it in your home) - but you may never carry one. Since you give no particulars on your offense - suggest you do some research on your own to determine if you and your past offense qualifies, or not.

Texas is one of the few states that does grant that LIMITED right to ex-felons - depending on the original charge. It can depend on several factors including whether it was a state offense or a federal offense - etc. If you were convicted of a federal offense ONLY the US can restore your right.

Additional: Whatever rights are restored by Texas they are valid ONLY IN the state of Texas. You would not be able to possess a firearm outside the state.

Contact an attorney skilled in this area. You don't want to violate this law or you could be facing BIG time.

Under federal law a felon can not possess any firearm that has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

To be able to get that right back, the conviction must be expunged.
