A Balloon Molly has the shape it does because it has a very badly deformed spine. This was firstly done by accident through in-breeding and then some people decided they wanted to keep fish deformed that way. So they continued to produce them. In nature all 'normal' fish would regard them as being not fit to survive and something that badly deformed should be killed. I personally would never consider owning a badly deformed fish like that. Most other mollys will not like them at all. They still need the allotted amount of room. So the rules apply. 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water. Every tank must have a cycled filter.
