To become a supervisor on Answers, you must first show yourself as an asset to the site, follow the rules, and be active. Then you should ask to join a program, or if others see you as a worthy asset to the site, they may ask you to consider joining a program. The main program of interest would be The Initiates Program. You will be given assignments. Upon graduation, if it is determined you are a good fit, then you will be a provisional floating supervisor. Then you will be assigned a mentor and be added to the mentoring program. They may or may not be your previous mentor. From there, you will be trained how to use each of the tools and how to deal with all the various situations you will encounter on the site.

A Senior Mentor on WikiAnswers is a Mentor who has graduated proteges from the program and has committed to providing support and guidance to a new Mentor who has just joined the program; usually this is one of his or her own graduated proteges, but not always. The idea is to give the new members of the Volunteer Mentoring Program someone specific to rely on for answers to their Mentoring questions, just as a Mentor does this for a Supervisor who has just joined our community.

Because, being a Supervisor whether it's floating or a category, or a senior Supervisor, it requires a lot of responsibility.
If a floating supervisor wishes to become a category supervisor, they can apply in the same way that a non-supervisor would, by sending an email to the appropriate email address.
You must be at least 15 years of age to become either a floating or a category supervisor.
Yes, there are. The Floating Supervisor is a Supervisor who might or might not have responsibility for a given Category. A Floating Supervisor 'floats' into any category and can work in any area. Other than that, they have the same "tools" in their kit as a regular Category Supervisor and have similar responsibilies.
A protege can indeed request a mentor. If the mentor is available to instruct another protege, then the two will be paired together. Requests and the arrangements should go through the Mentoring Program Coordinator, Ganderton.
Well, through the information I've gathered, those who want to become a mentor of course first needs to start as a Supervisor. Then must go through the mentoring program themselves, graduate, and in hopes if he or she wants to become a mentor, the protege's mentor will request it.
