Do the TIP Supervisors really check my missions?

Yes, they do. Once you report a mission completion, the TIP Supervisors will look at every single one of your contributions towards the mission. Every action you perform on WikiAnswers is recorded. The TIP Supervisors are not only looking for perfection in your tasks, but they are also looking for errors and slip-ups. We're not saying you definitely will slip up during missions, but in case you do make a mistake, the TIP Supervisors can point it out to you and educate you on it. The purpose of The Initiates Program is to educate contributors. Reportedly, the TIP Supervisors can be slightly more strict than SPA, WIT and Community Outreach when checking missions - this is because they expect a "Supervisor standard" from TIP members rather than a "contributor standard".

How do I get a personal TIP Supervisor?

By default your personal TIP Supervisor when you join the program is the TIP Supervisor who invited you. However you may be reassigned to either of the other TIP Supervisors at any time during your TIP membership. If you want to personally request to be Supervised by a particular TIP Supervisor (Xnicola or Skullcandy88), please let us know. When one of the TIP Supervisors is unavailable for some time, the other will temporarily step in.

How can I contact any of the TIP Supervisors if I need to?

You can contact the TIP supervisors at any time by leaving a message on their message board. Similarly, you are free to email them. Each supervisor has an email address following this format: username@wikianswers.com You should replace "username" with the TIP supervisor's username.

What do the supervisors of The Initiates Program do?

The supervisors of The Initiates Program perform a variety of duties:Personally guide TIP members through the TIP processAnswer questions related to TIP and the websiteCheck the completed missions of TIP membersEnsure TIP missions are completed to a high standard within the guidelinesAssign new missions to TIP membersChase down inactive membersOffer support to TIP members when they need itRecommend good contributors to the Leader for potential recruitment into TIPUpdate a database containing member information and progress detailsEnsure TIP members are following the guidelinesAttend weekly meetings to discuss the progress of the programRecommend TIP members for graduation and potentially Supervisor statusCreate and maintain official guides and documents for TIP membersOther various duties as given by the LeaderAmongst many other duties for the other programs they are involved with on WikiAnswers.

Can Supervisors join TIP for re-training?

No. TIP exists to prepare contributors to become Supervisors, not provide a crash course to existing Supervisors. If you are a Supervisor and would like to re-train or have a quick crash-course to remind you of the Supervisor tools and procedures, you should get in touch with the Mentoring Program. The Mentoring Program is headed by Jsarino and Ganderton.

Can a member of The Initiates Program be warned by a Supervisor?

Yes, they can be. Tip members (and supervisors for that matter) are not above the guidelines or ToU. They can still be warned and blocked for violations. If you are a TIP member, please inform us if you have a warning, it's not uncommon for Supervisors to be mistaken. If you are a supervisor, please let TIP know if a TIP member has been warned, as it will need to be recorded and taken into account upon their graduation.

Does it count against me if I am too impatient in The Initiates Program?

It may do.It is great that you are eager to be a Supervisor and a little competition is healthy. However if you seem to be too impatient, it could make the Community Assistants who recruit Supervisors take a step back and think "woah! Why is this person so desperate?!?".Supervisors have extremely advanced tools which could be abused in the wrong hands. Therefore being impatient can raise a few eyebrows and questions.Examples of impatience:Regularly posting on TIP Supervisors message boards begging/demanding your mission to be checked (TIP Supervisors will check your missions when they have time!)Trying to encourage TIP Supervisors to allow you to skip a missionAsking TIP Supervisors to "hurry up"Being argumentative towards TIP Supervisors (who are trying to help you!)Taking shortcuts or "cheating" during missionsMaking comments like "God! How many more?!?"Take a deep breath, concentrate and take your time on these missions. You need to show us that you can be trusted with advanced tools. Supervisors rushing around with advanced tools is like a child running with extra-sharp scissors.

Which TIP Supervisor is the best?

All of the TIP team are amazing. Without them all working together, TIP wouldn't be the great program it is today and many people who are Supervisors would probably never have had the opportunity if TIP didn't spot them.

I am a Supervisor and I have a problem with a certain TIP member so what should I do?

As with all contributors, please feel free to politely educate the TIP member on the problem or issue they are causing. 60% of the time they may just be making a simple mistake. We advise you to stay off the warn button and to educate, rather than be aggressive and demanding. Warning is always a last-resort option, as it states in the Supervisor manual. The main purpose of TIP is to educate contributors. TIP members are "pre-supervisors" - they join the program before moving onto the Mentoring Program. It is not a rule, but it is highly encouragedthat you refrain from warning TIP members unless it is absolutely necessary (ie cyberbullying). Minor issues such as URLs in answers and signing answers can be resolved with a simple message to the TIP member and the Supervisor in charge of that TIP member. As stated above, TIP members are "pre-supervisors" - technically, supervisors cannot warn supervisors, only a community assistant can. So please refrain from doing so unless the warning is entirely necessary. Please also inform the TIP Supervisor (via their supervisor email) for that relevant TIP member, you can find this information usually on their message boards. The TIP Supervisor may step in and educate their member and they will need to make a note of the issue on their records.Since the TIP members are potentially future Supervisors, being aggressive or demanding with them can make your Supervisory duties awkward when you have to work with them later.

I am a TIP member but a Supervisor has warned me what can I do?

TIP Members are not supervisors nor above the rules of the site. You are still a regular contributor until you graduate from the program, therefore you are still eligible to receive warnings from Supervisors. If you disagree with or do not understand the warning, contact the Supervisor and ask for more information. Remember to be polite. If you are warned, please let your TIP Supervisor know right away, rather than having them find out themselves. If you disagree with the communication between you and the Supervisor who warned you, get in touch with your TIP Supervisor. Always be polite to other Supervisors, since communication is a very important part of being one yourself.

What are the differences between The Initiates Program and the Special Project Assistants?

There are several differences between these programs, though both of them allow you to gain experience to become a Supervisor. You can join either one or both programs, it is your choice. Joining both might make you a bit more impressive. In TIP there are two personal TIP Supervisors, Xnicola and Skullcandy88, who work alongside the coordinator, Zapallar, to provide guidance to TIP members and assist them where they need assistance. TIP Supervisors are your mentors in the program. In SPA, there are no specialist Supervisors to give you assistance other than the coordinator. TIP tends to be a little bit quicker than SPA, however because of this, TIP is also stricter. In TIP you are expected to perform your tasks to a Supervisor standard, while in SPA you are only expected to perform a contributor standard. If you did not perform to a Supervisor standard in TIP, you could be asked to re-do the task. In SPA there are no set task requirements. You can choose whether you want to complete a task or be reassigned another one. The tasks can also vary by size, from large to small, randomly. In TIP you are given set tasks and have no option to pass, skip or change the task. This is because TIP looks for people who can get things done rather than those who look for a shortcut. Those who take shortcuts will not make very effective Supervisors. The leader of SPA is situated in the United Kingdom. While the leader of TIP is situated in the United States and both the TIP Supervisors are situated in the United Kingdom. This means that with TIP there is more chance of someone being online should you need assistance. TIP offers you a 98% chance of being invited onto the Supervisor team when you graduate from the program. TIP is stricter than SPA but offers more support. You are expected to perform like a Supervisor. SPA offers you a 80% chance of being invited onto the Supervisor team when you have reached a set criteria. SPA is softer and not as strict but there is less support. You are expected to perform like a contributor. My personal advice, if you are interested in becoming a Supervisor here, is to try them both out.
