Yes. Filters are usually strong enough to resist disintegration, but they are designed to flow one direction only, and could come apart and clog components if installed backwards.
your car will have a hard time idling and have a power loss when trying to pick up speed or going up an incline
look for the little arrow on the side of the filter. Thats the way the fuel will flow from the tank to the carb.
If it is still a factory stock car, it will be in the carb. It is installed in the housing where the fuel line mounts to the carb. You'll need to remove the fuel line then remove the housing. There will be a small filter and spring inside the housing. Make sure you take note which way the fuel filter is installed in the housing. It does need to go in a certain way. One end of the filter will have a steel cap while the other end will have a check valve and rubber seal.
IF that is the only thing you replaced then check to make sure the fuel filter is installed the right way. Most filters are designed to flow one way and have an arrow or something to show which way the fuel flows. Arrow should point towards the motor/carb. Also make sure the fuel lines didn't get kinked in the process.
in the front of the carbuerator, directly behind the fuel inlet line- note which way filter is installed as reversing it makes engine inoperative
A fuel filter does have a correct way to install it. One end usually has input or there is an arrow on the side showing which way the fuel should flow. If you installed it backwards, I guess it woudl cause undue strain ont he pump trying to force the fuel backwards thru the filter if this is even possible.
check for spark, compression and wiring It is possible that the filter was installed backwards check to see if the flow arrow on the filter is facing the right way.
Yes, there is an Inlet and Outlet. From the fuel tank, the fuel enters the inlet side and exits from the outlet side. The filter should be marked or possibly have different size connectors.
Depending on the type of filter, you may have installed it backwards. Some filters have a one-way check valve that will not allow dirt to leave the filter once it enters it. Hope this helps!
if elec-poss blown fuse, wires wired wrong, foulty fuel pump, hoses wrong way around, blocked fuel lines, blocked fuel filter mechanical- missing drive rod from cam, fuels lines wrong way around, foulty pump, blocked fuel lines, filters, could be something eles making it not start
Replace the fuel filter. There is no way to open it and clean it.
check your fuel filter the flow of fuel only goes one way there should be an arrow showing the direction of fuel make sure it points toward the front of the vehicle No, you don't have to change the fuel line. Are you sure the fuel filter is installed correctly? (The proper direction). Maybe your fuel injectors are clogged??? (Mine were on my '96 Windstar!)
