yes it is possible for a gauge to go bad in which you will need to have the cluster repaired or buy a new one
Ground the temperature sending unit and the gauge should go to hot. If it does not the the gauge is defective. The instrument cluster will have to be sent off for repair. had the same problem, check for bad fuse located in fuse box under the hood on drivers side.
DCl stands for data communication line.it tells you that there is no communication to the instrument cluster from the computer. The main problem is that there is a fault in the instrument cluster causing the DCL light to stay on and sometimes the oil pressure gauge could go bad also.you can have it repaired at a few speedometer shops just look them up online.
It is just wires connecting the instrument cluster to the ECM. Your instrument cluster is starting to go bad & needs to be replaced. Contact these folks: http://www.aaellc.com
there is a small module behind the instrument cluster. ck that . I'm surprised you are not having fuel gage problems too.
wiring to the instrument cluster is faulty. Doors will not lock when gauge cluster is disconnected because they share the circuit. Take out gauges and clean/dialectric grease connections...problem should go away
This is a known issue with early 90's Volvo 940 models, in that the electronic instrument cluster fails due to bad electronics. There are electrolytic capacitors on the circuit board that go bad prematurely. For further details, go to http://www.brickboard.com
there are a couple of reasons it could be, it is possible that the sending unit is bad. It could also be the instrument panel cluster or the PCM, there are some reflashes for the pcm for this issue but you would have to find a dealer or an independent repair shop that has the snap on online programming set up. most of the sending units go bad in these and if it is this there is a newer design from GM for some models
go to cadillacfaq.com and do a search...tell's you exactly how to remove this item
194 bulbs you can get them from any advance auto
remove dash replace bulb(instrument cluster)
I need to know what year the vheicle is first, but I'll give you a rough overview. The clock is lit up by a bulb in the back of the clock display in the instrument cluster. To replace the bulb you need to remove the instrument cluster (it is very easy, but I recommend the use of Mercedes Special Tools. Mercedes produces a set of hook tools especially for jobs like this.) and take out the socket and replace the bulb. Note: If you are going to remove the instrument cluster for the repair, replace all the bulbs in the cluster. Chances are if one has gone bad, others are about to go bad, so get it all done at the same time so you don't have to do it again a week later.
in front of the instrument cluster the black "hood" piece remove it and have fun
