I asked my therapist about this, and she said it's so rare for them to admit they need help, it is doubtful, although anything is possible. If everyone left them, and they were all alone and had no one shelling out Narcissistic Supply for them, it's a rare possibillity. In my ex-N's case, it is very doubtful because he's such an attractive man and has such a following of women and Narcissist supply, it's hard to imagine him being all alone. He'd just shun the one who labeled him a narcissist and run to get his adoration elsewhere.

Narcissists are tricky, and I've done a lot of research on this subject. Manipulating a narcissist isn't really that hard. You can smother the narcissist in compliments, you can intimidate them with something they fear, believe me it works.

A good therapist will be the one to help a narcissist, but it takes a great deal of work on the part of the narcissist, a commitment to healing, only they don't see themselves as 'broken' or anything wrong with them, so an honest introspective communication with a therapist is rare. It's so hard to understand. Leaving them is best for you though and isn't that sad that that is also the way to help a narcissist, because they are sucking your goodness from you and using it to buoy themselves. So sad.

To say a narcissist is insecure would be to put it lightly. They are PROFOUNDLY insecure. You would be too if you were rejected by everyone, including your parents, for who you really are. It is hard to love and care about someone for who they really are when you dont know who they really are. After all the narcissist has a fake personality which he seems to think people will admire him for but once people see through it, the narcissist becomes very lonely.
