In the US government you can't be tried twice for the same crime but if there was a problem in the way the circuit court handled the case, then it could be appealed to the appellate court. After that it can still be appealed to the Supreme court.
I don't think they can. Since you cant be tried twice for 1 single crime. unless ur saying that they did two separate crimes (for example: robbery on Thursday and on Friday) then they can be tried at any time.
Not for the SAME EXACT offense, committed against the SAME EXACT victim, under SAME EXACT circumstances, at the SAME EXACT time. That's called DOUBLE JEAPORDY. On the other hand: If you happened to (for example) rob two different people at the same time and place, you COULD be charged with two counts of robbery.
Determining whether you can be tried twice for the same crime depends on the outcome of the trial. If there is a mistrial called, then you have to be retried. If you are found not guilty, you cannot at least under US law be tried for the same crime again as that would be a violation of double jeopardy laws. As pointed out by another person who answered, you can be tried in two separate courts for a crime if it has both criminal and civil properties to it. The burden of proof to convict someone in a civil court is much less demanding than that of a criminal court. ie. OJ Simpson trial.
