I am not a lawyer. That said, anyone can probably get a restraining order if they can prove to a judge that it is warranted, regardless of the relationship between the two people.
If you think there is a chance you might need legal counsel, get some from a professional. If you don't think you can afford a personal lawyer, contact your local law enforcement and ask their advice.
