In most countries using a piercing gun for any piercing other than ear lobes is a violation of federal health regulations or guidelines. Even the piercing gun manufacturers warn and advise against using the piercing gun for any piercing other than ear lobes. Piercing guns and the studs used in them are not designed nor intended to be used in nostrils or monroes.
The tearing and damage done to the nostril can have life long effects, and the possible infection due to improper cleaning of the piercing can be serious. Professional body piercers have complained long and hard about piercing guns in general, due to the harsh manner in which they penetrate the tissue and cause problems during the healing process.
So after all this being said, there are individuals out there who could care less about you or your health, who would be more than willing to screw up your face by using a piercing gun to pierce your nose. The question is are you stupid enough to let them do it to you? I don't think you are because you were smart enough to ask the question. Go see a professional body piercer..
If you Google the dangers of piercing guns you'll come across numerous articles and Horror stories about piercing guns. Piercing guns punch a hole through the flesh with a blunt stud which causes tremendous tissue damage, prolongs the healing time and is generally a bad idea. Piercing guns shouldn't be used for anything but ear-lobe piercings (and even that's at a push!). If you were to use it for a monroe piercing the stud would be the wrong size and extremely painful and you'd probably get a bad infection. Also, the stud used in piercing guns hasn't got a flat end and it would scrape off of your teeth and gums. Not a pleasant sensation!
No you can not pierce a Monroe with a gun, and if some joker tells you they can, they seriously need to have there head examined. Piercing guns are for ear lobes only, this is a health regulation that applies to almost everywhere in North America.
Go to a professional piercing studio. Make sure the environment is sterile. Don't go to a studio that will pierce your ears with a piercing gun, or somewhere that does not sterilize their products.

Professional body piercers never ever use a piercing gun to pierce a nostril, they are dirty and are not to be used to pierce anything other and ear lobes and then even that is questionable. All body piercing is done with single use needles in a licensed and inspected facility by trained and qualified professional body piercers.
Sure but in the hands of a professional body piercer that shouldn't happen unless you are doing the piercing gun route, then you should have expected the piercing to be botched in the first place.

The Needle. Using The Gun To Pierce Like For Example Your Cartilage In Your Ear, The Cartilage Might Shatter And Youll Feel Tiny Bumps Around Your New Piercing, Thatll Mean You Have Shattered Your Cartilage. So In My Opinion For Choosing What To Pierce With I Would Have To Say A Hollow Piercing Needle :)
A Tragus piercing is a technically challenging piercing that can't be done without knowledge of the structures of the ear and cartilage. Permanent ear and hearing damage can be done when attempted by novices. Listen use common sense and leave piercing to the hands of professional body piercers who will use aseptic methods and materials to provide the piercing in a safe manner. This is not a piercing gun piercing.
I doubt it. Considering that most piercing parlours do not allow guns. Truthfully, you are MUCH safer having your piercing done by a licensed professional using a needle. The reason is each needle is used only once for each customer before being disposed of therefore stopping the spread of bacteria. Unlike the needles, piercing guns are used on every customer, allowing them to become hazardous. (Now would you really want a gun that had been inserted into everybody else's mouth who wanted a Monroe piercing inserted into yours? My guess is no.)
Pain and discomfort are part and parcel of getting the cartilage pierced with a piercing gun. The piercing gun user knows that they are not allowed to pierce ear cartilage with a piercing gun. Properly done cartilage piercing done by a professional body piercer would have been healed by now. The swelling is due to the stud backing being too close to the skin and not allowing the piercing to drain or breath properly.
