The throttle position sensor is actually apart of the throttle plate actuator assembly and must be replaced as a unit.

I think he told me that was the case for the 2000 and the 2001 Impala's. In that case the transmission has to come out in order to change the neutral safety switch.

The 2000 Chev Impala has the 4T65E tranny in it. The neutral safety switch is inside the tranny and the tranny has to some out in order for it to be replaced. I just had my transmission rebuilt and I was there when the mechanic took it apart. While they are in there have them check the 4th output hub shaft, there are some very fine splines on the end of that shaft that get worn. They can wear to the point where the car is put into gear and it won't move.
