Can a soldier reclassing from infantry with a CIB or EIB still wear the blue cord after the reclass process is complete?

The EIB or CIB, you can wear after you reclass. The blue cord, however, may not be worn once you reclass, nor are the blue discs worn behind the infantry branch insignia worn with any other branch insignia.

With few exceptions, no. If you earn the EIB (or CIB) as an infantryman, then you reclass to another MOS, you can still wear it. If you earn the EIB as a non-11 series MOS, then reclass to infantry, you should be eligible to wear it. If you test for it as a non-11 Series, and never reclass to infantry, you can't wear it, even if you complete the testing. However, if you do complete the testing, you should be able to use the points towards promotion.

No. To be awarded a CIB, you have to be Infantry at the time the award was received (although a lot of Cavalry could have been awarded the CIB, they ended up getting CABs due largely to internal politics of the Army, especially concerning Cav units which were attached to infantry brigades). Since you wouldn't be reclassing to infantry until after the award was made, you're still not eligible for a CIB.Former Marine Corps personnel who later join the Army and received the Combat Action Ribbon, however, are eligible to convert it to a CIB or CAB, depending on their MOS at the time it was awarded.

You're the only one really who can decide which MOS is best for you to reclass to.

You really need to speak with a recruiter about this. In addition, you unit will have a retention NCO (usually attached to the S-1 office) who may be able to further help you, as well as determine whether or not you're eligible for reclassification.

A Combat Medic in an Infantry unit does not get awarded a CIB, for example. One interesting contrast with the CAB vs. the CIB and CMB is that the CAB is awarded - at least in theory - only to those who make direct contact with the enemy, whereas the only requirements for the CIB and CMB is that you spend 30 days in a zone for which the award is authorised, whether you make contact or not. Truth of the matter is, there are plenty of CAB recipients who have legitimately earned it - there's also a good number of fobbits who've received them because some mortars landed on the opposite side of the camp they were at. By the way, the Combat Medic badge is no longer exclusive to line medics - from 2001 to 2004, the Army revamped it's MOS classification system. The MOS of 91B (Combat Medic) was removed, and was folded into the MOS of 68W (Healthcare Specialist) - which encompasses a much broader range than the old 91B MOS did. Thus, you have medics being awarded CMBs who've never so much as left the FOB.
