Can a star be thrown into another star if one of the stars were rocketed from a black hole if so what would happen and why?

Recent discoveries at the galactic center shows a super-massive black hole. Many stars and clouds of gas orbit the singularity prior to falling into the hole. The stars closest to the black hole are accelerating as they approach the singularity, and some are accelerated so much they are ejected from orbit, and and travel wildly through that part of the galaxy. I assume they could collide with another star. The collision could result in a nova, as both stars try to retain equalibrium, or the two stars could go into orbit around each other, with one pulling matter from the other to itself, or they could merge (probably causing a super nova). I really don't think we have seen a collision between stars actually happen, so this is all hypothetical.
