Yes.
It really can't be fixed, just replaced. fairly inexpensive for diy.
That wouldn't be your starter, it would be your clutch, get it replaced before it burns out or becomes stuck
If you have headers put a heat shield over the starter. That is what fixed my 84 C-10 starter issues. If it is a gear alignment problem try shimming. If it is a electrical problem try the heat shield.
it may be the starter going out doing it . it will kill the alternator if it keeps going . I know i had it happen to my 96 olds replaced the alt still didnt start and the starter fixed it
Often, a spring loaded mechanism on a LH side view mirror cannot be fixed. The mirror will need to be replaced instead of being fixed.
the gear on the starter is sliding into the flywheel causing the sound. Just replaced the starter on my 97 Deville. The gear on the old starter would slide back and forth due to a broken spring. The new gear on the new starter if fixed in place. Sounds crazy, but oh so true.
Turn your headlights on and try start the engine, if they don't dim then the problem is still in the starter motor. If you bought the motor 2nd hand, maybe try exchanging it or check it has been refitted properly. Ive currently got the same problem with my xsi, bu haven't had a chance to fit a new one because of the weather here. When you replaced the starter did you also replace the starter solenoid? I had the same symptoms on my 306, starter wouldn't turn, battery was OK and headlights worked. Road service was able to start the car by bypassing the starter solenoid. I replaced the solenoid (and the starter because they're sold together) and fixed the problem.
Direct on line starter and Heavy direct on line starter...... in HDOL CT is fixed.
If your starter is dead, you won't be going anywhere until it gets fixed, automatic or not.
If your car works fine when its not cold and only wont start when its cold outside then its a bad solenoid and most likely the one that regulates voltage to your starter. This solenoid can not be replaced with out replacing the starter because they are combined. Unless you have a aftermarket starter that will let replace the solenoid without replacing the starter. So all you have to do is take it to a shop and have a new starter put in and your prob should be fixed.
Fuses cannot be fixed, only replaced.
Had ther same problem, ignition switch fixed it.
