I've been in the pool business for 19 years. All that's necessary is a couple of simple, inexpensive changes in the pump room and the wall return. We make this change frequently in the industry.
u can NOT convert one into another.... ud have to rip it out and start over... either gunite or fiberglass
"Gunite",is a name used to typically designate a mixture of 1 part Portland Cement and 4 parts sand thoroughly mixed dry, passed through a Gunite Machine, and conveyed by air through a rubber gunite hose, mixed with water at the nozzle, and deposited by air pressure. The large amount of air pressure serves to mix and compact the mixture. The result is a wonderfully smooth, hard surface.
Gunite is a mixture of water, cement, and sand applied through a pressure hose to produce a dense layer of concrete. This is used most often to line tunnels and repair structures.
If it was working ok before you lined it and you have no problems removing the liner you should have no problems.

The gunite pool is basically what most people refer to as the in-ground concrete pool. Because this pool will shape to the contours of your yard, it is a great choice for those who want something more unique than the typical vinyl lined pools. The tile on the gunite pool can be cleaned with household tile cleaner when you are doing your deep cleaning of your pool. This requires that the pool be drained and rinsed thoroughly.
How often should you resurface a gunite pool?
gunite gunned in cold weather
Pressure wash very close to the surface with a 15 degree tip and 2550psi or better.
Gunite = Cement (shot from a gun) Shotcrete = Concrete (shot from a gun) Gunite is cheaper and easier to use. Concrete is more expensive and lasts much longer.
I think the best one out there is "The Pool Cleaner" by Poolvernuegen.
As long as the vinyl liner pool is inground, it can be converted. But you'll probably have to remove all of the vinyl pool elements until you have reduced the pool to a big hole in the ground and then start from there. All it takes is time and money!
Either gunite or fiberglass will work well for an indoor pool.
Gunite is a type of sprayed concrete, and is basically as porous as concrete is.
