Cant penetrate the drain field with posts, else you damage it, cant run over it with cars, same reason, cant restrict access to it (like a deck would) Much of the evaporation of septage draining from the house occurs as exfiltration, which is escape to the air. A deck would retard that severely. That's not the worst though. Once came across a pumping company with a 4 inch suction pipe running thorugh a bedroom window. Closer examination showed the lid of the septic tank was under the bed in an improperly built home addition. Yuck.
