Yes, mine has both, as I needed a mainboard with both to use an old PATA/IDE drive along with my new SATA drive.

As time goes on, fewer boards will be available with both ports, but there will probably be adapters available for quite awhile after that.

Can you configure desktop raid using both pata and sata drives?

yes

Can you Transfer files from a sata drive to ide drive?

Yes you can transfer files if your motherboard support both types of drives, if it has the connectors both for sata and pata (ide). If it supports only sata than you can do so by connecting your ide via usb port with a commercially available usb card and cable with its own power supply. Regards Rizwan Ghafoor

How do you masterslave SATA?

You cannot master / slave a sata drive. These drives are single channel only.On the motherboard, you will see X amount of connectors. Therefore (2) connectors, is an extra 2 sata drives. Both being masters.

Are the cable ends the same for SATA 2.0 and SATA 3.0?

The final specifications for SATA 3.0 have not yet been released. Based on the draft specifications, it is possible to use the same connectors for both SATA 2.0 and 3.0.

What is the largest IDE hard drive for Intel D875PBZ motherboard?

The D875PBZ is fully LBA48 compliant, and supports both PATA and SATA drives. You can use the largest size hard drive available for either connection (probably 750 GB for PATA, 1.5 TB for SATA).

The physical installation of a CD-ROm is generally just like installing what else?

The physical installation of a CD-ROM is generally just like installing what else a hard drive. Both drives can be connected using IDE, E-IDE, SATA or PATA connectors.

Why does a serial ATA drive sometimes have two power connectors on the drive?

One power connector is for the SATA power cable and the other is for the standard power cable. Use one or the other depending on what power connectors you have available in your system but not both.

Can you replace a pata hard drive with an ide hard drive?

Yes because both connectors are same shape and size.

What is PATA Drive?

Parallel ATA (PATA) is an IDE standard for connecting storage devices like hard drives and optical drives to themotherboard. PATA generally refers to the types of cables and connections that follow this standard. It's important to note that the term Parallel ATA used to simply be called ATA. ATA was retroactively renamed to Parallel ATA when the newer Serial ATA (SATA) standard came into being.PATA cables are long, flat cables with 40-pin connectors (in a 20x2 matrix) on either side of the cable. One end plugs into a port on the motherboard, usually labeled IDE, and the other into the back of a storage device like a hard drive. Some PATA cables have an additional connector midway through the cable for connecting yet another storage device.PATA cables come in 40-wire or 80-wire designs. Most modern storage devices require the use of the more capable 80-wire PATA cable to meet certain speed requirements. Both types of PATA cables have 40-pins and look nearly identical so telling them apart can be difficult. Usually though, the connectors on an 80-wire PATA cable will be black, gray and blue while the connectors on a 40-wire cable will only be black. Also Known As: PATANote: Even though PATA and SATA are both IDE standards, PATA (formally ATA) cables and connectors are often referred to simply as IDE cables and connectors. It's not a correct usage but it's very popular nonetheless.Examples:"My motherboard has 4 slots labeled IDE. I used a three-connector PATA cable to connect my hard drive and CD burner to one IDE port and used another PATA cable to connect my backup tape drive to the second IDE port. It's good to know that I have two more IDE ports left on the motherboard for future use if I need them."

What is the difference between SATA hard drives and IDE hard drives?

SATA is............. This is one of the latest and popular developments. The high speed serialized AT attachment. Currently SATA offers ransfer speeds of upto 150Mbps. However, this technology can offer upto 600Mbps with further development. The next stage is increasing the speed to 300Mbps.This is a popular term, it really should be called ATA - Advanced Technology Attachment. One of the earliest types. Also known as ATA-1. Data transfer rate of about 8Mbps (8 million bits per second). Basic differences are,1) Speed (150mbps (SATA) vs 100/133mbps (PATA))2) Air flow (large IDE cable vs thin SATA)3) Hot swappable (SATA)4) Newer technology with future speed increases promised.

Why use PATA at all?

Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment (PATA) is an interface designed to accommodate mass storage devices for computers. PATA was formerly called IDE (Integrated Device Electronics) and EIDE (Enhanced IDE). Until recent years, PATA/IDE/EIDE storage devices (hard drives, CD and DVD drives) were nearly universal in PCs. (SCSI was and is still around, but in very limited use.) About ten years ago, a new standard -- SATA, or Serial ATA -- was introduced for mass storage devices. By 2008, SATA had largely taken over as the new standard for hard drives, and it has since conquered the CD/DVD market also. But there are still many millions of PATA legacy drives and boards in use, and PATA devices and boards continue to be sold today, though in greatly reduced quantity. (The PC I'm using as I write this has a mainboard with both PATA and SATA interfaces, and all the mass storage drives are PATA. Why would I go out and buy new drives?)

What is a sata drive connector?

First some Background....SATA Drive Connector.Serial Advanced Technology Attachment is the newest(and fastest) form of Data wiring for computers. The older style, PATA (Parallel ATA) or IDE was a bit bulky and cumbersome. SATA is much slimmer and faster than PATA.Now for your question....The SATA Drive Connector is most likely used for either or both Hard Drives and CD/DVD-ROMs. It is coming to be the new standard for all motherboards.
