Most likely cause is a faulty coolant temperature sensor.
It is an electrical device that tells back the engine temperature to both the temperature gauge and (where fitted) the engine management system.
Why would the temperature gauge indicate an overheated condition when the engine is not hot. It could be the gauge in the instrument panel. Unlikey however. More likely it is a bad coolant temperature sensor or the wiring from the sensor back to the instrument panel. Inspect the wiring and replace the coolant sensor. The sensor is not too expensive.
the fuel guage in my 1993 Saturn goes wiggling back and forth. how do i fix this problem?
Unplug the coolant temp sensor and check what the gauge says...If it falls to cold, then the sensor is at fault. If it stays, then the gauge is either faulty or the contact points on the back of the gauges need to be cleaned... If the temperature gauge needle doesn't go back to zero when the car is shut off, it is possible that the needle is sticking. A little WD-40 or electronic spray on the gauge might fix the problem. There could also be a problem with the MAP Sensor or a Radiator Pressure sensor in the engine.
It is on the drivers side head, Back by the last spark plug by the cab.
on top of the engine in the back " not for beginings" the upper intake must be removed!
It is to prevent the fuel from sloshing back and forth. Fuel sloshing can cause the fuel gauge to be erratic. It is to prevent the fuel from sloshing back and forth. Fuel sloshing can cause the fuel gauge to be erratic.
Where is the coolant temperature sensor located on a 2002 Nissan Sentra? my car s dashboard gauge shows my car is running hot the drops back down to normal any idea?[Improve]
your oil pump or your gauge is going out
More than likely you need a fuel level sensor. You can buy it at the dealership or maybe your local parts store. The sensor is in the gas tank, so you will have to drop the gas tank and change it out.
