yes transmissions interchange yup yes i took the 305 out of my preasaine and put a 350 in and used the same transmission and the 305 no problem, this summer i took a 230 in-line 6-cylinder engine out of a 65 chevelle, and dropped a 400 small-block in, perfect! The transmission bolt pattern is the same between all older chev engines rwd (Pont ,buick , and olds have their very own bolt pattern) The main thing you have to watch for is your torque convertor stall , you may find the wrong stall may affect performance and drivability.

If you are asking if you can substitute a 350 for a 305, the answer is generally yes.

User Avatar

No. The bore size is different between a 305 and 350. The 350 bore size is larger.

User Avatar

depends on engine if 305 you can fit a 200r4 or 700r4(recommended) 350 will fit the 4L60E most of tha caprices with the 350 are electronicly shifted...

User Avatar

What is the engine in the Caprice? In the Suburban? If they are a 305/350 then they can be interchanged. I have a 1985 Caprice Classic with a 305 and the tranny came out of a 1987 Suburban. It depends on the engine.

User Avatar

Yes, but the exhaust Y pipe from the 305 may not fit the 350.

User Avatar

If it's for a 305 it's a Chevy and will interchange with a 350. If it's an Olds, it won't.

User Avatar

yes it fit alot of Chevy engines including all small blocks and big blocks to same bolt pattern

User Avatar

Yes it will fit. This distributor will fit all small block and big block Chevrolet engines.

User Avatar

No it will not. 2.8 and 4.3 have different bolt patterns, however 305(5.0) and 350(5.7) share the pattern with 4.3.

User Avatar

Yeah it can fit, just make sure it's from an 85 and down 350 or 305.

User Avatar

It should, but the crossmember is off about 6" from the 350.

User Avatar

If you are a good welder, and know how to use a torch you could put a 305 Chevy v8 with Tranny. It just how much time, money, and fit and finish you want to spend on it.

User Avatar

The only one I can think of is the exhaust Y-pipe may not fit from the 305 to the 350.

User Avatar

Yes it will if you have the motor mounts and frame supports for the 305/350 and the bell housing for the 305/350 it will fit right in. I have allready done it

User Avatar

a Chevy 350 crank is a Chevy 305 crank. they have the same stroke, 3.48 inches, and are interchangable. swapping between the two cranks does not change the engines displacement

User Avatar

Yes it will. It will bolt right on... 100% interchangeable.

User Avatar

It will bolt right in but, the "Y" pipe on the exhaust system from the 305 will not fit on to the 350.

User Avatar

As long as the 350 is older then a 1987, you will have no problems. They will bolt right on with no modifying.

User Avatar

Yes, they are 100% interchangeable, so it will bolt right on.

User Avatar

as long as you have a 350, it shouldn't be a problem.
