yes transmissions interchange yup yes i took the 305 out of my preasaine and put a 350 in and used the same transmission and the 305 no problem, this summer i took a 230 in-line 6-cylinder engine out of a 65 chevelle, and dropped a 400 small-block in, perfect! The transmission bolt pattern is the same between all older chev engines rwd (Pont ,Buick , and olds have their very own bolt pattern) The main thing you have to watch for is your torque convertor stall , you may find the wrong stall may affect performance and drivability.
