If GM made an engine someone has made a kit to put it into a fiero. V8's take more modification than most 4 and 6 cylinder engines, but it can and has been done. It won't be cheap or easy for a first timer.
Any smallblock Chevy engine will physically "fit" into a 85 Impala
Visit http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/105137.html for your answer. Should be a few replies in awhile.
well, the original engine was something along the lines of a 7 liter v8, so basically anything.
Either a 301 (standard), or a 350 or 400 V8
Realistically, any engine can be used in a Fiero... All you need is time and money. It'd probably be a lot easier to do a Caddy 4.9 V8 swap - you can get the parts from V8 Archie through his website, or just take the car to him and have him do it (more expensive, though, it's professionally done)
Many modern 4, 6, and even 8 cylinder engines can be retrofit into a Fiero, some with a little modification as the use of new mounting brackets. Some larger engines require slight modifications, and some owners have even "stretched" their frames to fit some real monsters under their hood... (make that rear deck lid)
try www.autozone.com and check for vehicle specs.
The 4l60e from the 4.3 vortec will fit the v8 motor, 3.1 and 3.8 are different.
sure
A 700r4 will fit most smallblock v8 motored GM vehicle, if it has anything other than a v8 it will not fit
well ive got a 1994 create motor vortech 5.7 liter v8 in my 85
1in 1967 the 400 cu in V8 becme the standard for Bonneville until 1969, when a 360 hp 428 became the standard Bonneville engine, which in turn was replaced in 1970 by an even larger 455 cu in rated at 370 hp.
