If we are using public ip address, we can browse the internet. If it is having an intranet address a gateway is needed as a router or firewall to communicate with internet.

Without default gateway you cannot browse internet. It doesnt matter if you are on public or private network. Default Gateway is required to route your IP packets from your network to the other networks.

it is impossible for a computer to have no default gateway. once you connect your computer to a network it will automatically supply a default gateway and for the browsing issue, configuration of default gateway is necessary.

You must have a default gateway address specified to send a packet outside of your LAN. Without one, you cannot access the Internet, let alone any other network in your area.
