If the child is older than 8 or 55 pounds, it is OK to use adult pads. If not, do not use adult pads as the shock will be too much.

If child pads are used on an adult (if for example no other pads are available nor will be available for a period of time I would use them on an adult..... what choice, in reality, would I have?) they would be placed in the same location; upper right on chest and lower left on the ribs.
