In the UK, Many employers reserve the contractual right to send employees home for short periods without pay when work is scarce. (Although it is rarely used outside the manufacturing sector.) The other alternative available for employers is redundency (Dismissal to due Cessation of Business). However, the law requires the employer to make a statutory redundancy payment, which is based on the employee's length of service. From what I can see, in the UK, a permanentreduction in hours cannot be given for any reason, unless with the agreement of both the employer and employee. Doing so could be viewed as breach of contract by the employer. So.. Yes, if.. or No, but.. As always, hope this helps Dan

yes it is very helpful for students to get job for the life.
I think its a must. A parttime job for a student would be wise as well as an asset. It helps responsibility, confidence and lets face it financially. It also keeps you grounded and away from the party scene that is so easy to fall into and just incur more debt. When I attended college fulltime I also worked fulltime. Although it was trying I managed and did it. I would go to school from 0630 - 1400 then come home change and go to work from 1500 - 2300. When I got home from work I would do any school work I needed done and still be able to get 6hrs sleep. On the weekends is when I would do any school work needed and even go ahead as to keep up. Again, I say it was hard but it was a must.
it is your choice. if you don't want to babysit then don't. if you do and you are responsible and mature and prepared and kind then go ahead. it's good for a parttime job.

Typically, unemployment benefits only apply to those who have been working full time and they're employer has been paying for their unemployment. I've never heard of someone getting unemployment benefits after only working part time for a short period of time. I'm sorry to break the bad news.
the truth Answer Business needs, mention that you needed benefits if the job was parttime, or voluntary if the situation was intolerable. You do not need to explain if you were fired. You do need to keep things positive about your previous employer even if things were less than that.
