Not in the eyes of the Catholic Church. They do not consider an Episcopal Priest to be ordained in Apostolic Succession, so is therefore a layman (a non-priest like you or I).

This is depite Episcopalian (and all priests in the Anglican Communion) being able to trace their succession back through the bishops to the pre-Reformation Church based in Rome.

Yes and this is happening more and more today as Episcopalians become disenchanted with the lack of moral leadership in the Episcopal Church. They undergo a training period before ordination.

Should a parish priest be married?

It depends on what kind of parish. If he is Catholic, then no, he can not marry because he is already "married" to mother church. However, if he is an Ipiscable priest and is married, but deciedes to become Catholic, then he may be a married Catholic priest.

Can a married man be a Catholic priest?

Yes, if he had been married and had been a priest in a similar religion - Orthodox or Anglican. He may keep his wife when he becomes a Catholic priest. A Catholic man who is a widower can also become a priest but may not remarry.

Can a Catholic priest bless a marriage after an Episcopal ceremony?

If the marriage was done by Episcopal minister and not in the presence of a Catholic priest, or without approval of the Catholic Church, then, no, it cannot be blessed as the Catholic Church recognizes the episcopal marriage as valid.Catholic AnswerIf either of the parties involved in the Episcopal marriage ceremony were Catholic, then they are not married until such time as they get married before a priest in a Catholic Church as Canon Law requires that the marriage of a baptized (or converted) Catholic be before a priest or deacon. So it is not a question of a priest "blessing" a marriage (although this is a common term for a marriage in a Catholic Church following a civil marriage or any other religion) but of actually performing the wedding. They would have to apply to their priest and go through the normal preparation for marriage, including permission to marry a non-Catholic; and, of course, they would have to be in a state of grace; which would mean that the Catholic party would have to repent of the attempted marriage outside the Church in confession and be forgiven. Also, they should live as brother and sister until such time as the marriage is performed by a priest. They would need to speak to a priest right away.

Can a married priest become a pope?

In theory, any Catholic male can be elected pope. In practice, the election is usually done among the cardinals, and I suspect it's fairly unlikely that a married priest - who would be sort of an outsider within the Catholic community - becomes either a cardinal or a pope.

If you are Roman Catholic can you still be an ordained minister and get married?

I believe you can be an ordained deacon. Under the Roman Rite, you cannot be married and a priest. There may be some exceptions for Episcopal priests who were married and who converted. Also, the Melchite Rite, which accepts Roman authority, might allow a married priesthood. In some of the eastern rites of Catholicism a married man is allowed to become a priest but a priest is not allowed to marry after he has been ordained.

Can a married catholic deacon become cardinal?

No, in order to become a Cardinal you need to be priest or bishop

Can an Episcopal priest conduct a wedding for a Catholic and a Presbyterian couple?

With the proper dispensation from the Ordinary (Local Bishop) of the diocese [usually obtained through the chancery office] and the couple has been instructed by going throught the Roman Catholic "Pre-Cana" courses, and the Catholic Party makes an oath that he/she will baptize, and educate, any children in the Roman Catholic faith, continuing to be a good example by the Catholic Faith he/she lives -- and with the permission of the parish in which all records are to be filed, a Catholic Priest may assist at a ceremony (not a communion service) or accept the vows... whatever the wishes of the couple may be.

I am still married but am seeing another woman so can I become a Catholic?

You can but your behavior is contrary to Catholic moral rules. Ask your priest--I am not a Catholic authority.

If married can you be a priest?

In the Roman Catholic Church, it is required that a priest be celibate. This is to keep the priest from being distracted from doing God's will as a priest. However, if an Anglican or Orthodox priest who is married converts to Catholicism he is able to become a Catholic priest and keep his wife. In the Eastern Catholic Church though, the priests are allowed to marry though. Lutheran and Episcopalian Priests are allowed to marry as well.

Is the Episcopal priest able to perform transsubstantiation with the same authority as a Catholic priest?

The Episcopal priest is able to perform all the Sacraments of the Episcopal Church with the same authority as a Catholic priest for THEIR own sacraments. But the Episcopal Church does not believe in transsubstantiation. Transsubstantiation is strictly a Catholic doctrine that states Christ is truly present, Body, Soul, Blood, and Divinity, within the Bread and Wine AS the "Body of Christ". The Episcopal Church believes that after the Words of Institution that Jesus Christ is truly present--really present--in the Bread and Wine. In the Catholic Church the bread and wine is no longer bread and wine. Look up Platonic Philosophy.

Can Catholics receiving communion at an Episcopal become transubstantiated?

The bread and wine consecrated by a Catholic priest is transubstantiated to the body and blood of Christ. Although the catholic church respects the EPISCOPAL church which is very close in its teachings, there are subtle differences in the meaning of Eucharist and therefore transubstantiation is a prime doctrine of the Catholic church ( and some orthodox churches) only.
