I have known people to buy vehicle without a driver's license, but I don't believe you can insure it. You probably could get storage insurance, or maybe insure it with someone else as a primary driver. But most likely the insurance will have to be purchased by someone else.

im an auto insurance agent.... in some states, you may insure your car even if you dont have a valid driver license. you may also buy your own car in some dealerships. you just gotta look for them...

If you have full insurance on your car and it is totaled by an unlicensed driver what happens with your insurance and payments for the car?

If this unlicensed driver was driving your car with your knowledge, you are screwed. But if you mean an unlicensed driver hit your car, if you have full coverage you should be able to collect on your insurance. The insurance will make the check to the leinholder and they will give you any excess or expect you to make up any shortage to pay off the loan. In some cases, if you did give permission for the uninsured driver, your insurance company will pay for the loss but make you sign an exclusion stating that the driver will not be covered in the future for any reason. You would be liable for full cost if it happens again. You can also expect a spike in your rates if they reside with you.

If you hit an unlicensed driver will your insurance pay for damages to his car?

This will depend on the type of insurance coverage. The insurance company can decide to go to court and argue that since the driver was uninsured, then they should not be liable for damages.

Is an unlicensed driver still insured on my car?

Is an unlicensed driver automatically at fault?

An unlicensed driver will probably get cited for not having a license and may even get their car impounded, but is not automatically at fault. The person that the police and insurance company determine caused the accident would be at fault.

If an unlicensed driver is in an accident with an insured car will the insurance company still cover the damage?

Most likely yes.. but your rates are going up, and the driver will be cited.

What happens if someone unlicsensed but a cosigner drives my car?

It's illegal to drive without a driver's license, so if they get caught, they could be arrested. Your insurance may not cover the car if you allow an unlicensed driver to drive it, so if there's an accident, you will probably have to pay for it. Basically, don't let an unlicensed driver drive your car, even if they are the co-signer.

Will the insurance company pay for the damages caused by their driver if the injured victim is driving unlicensed and the car has been totaled?

Let's see if I can follow this. Insurance company A is at fault because of actions caused by driver A. Driver B who is not at fault is injured, but is unlicensed, and Auto B has been totalled. Insurance company A is going to have to pay damages to Driver B for property damage as well as for injuries because Driver A is deemed at fault. The fact that Driver B is unlicensed is a non-moving violation and Driver B will have to pay a substantial fines for these issues.

Will your rates go up when car was impounded for unlicensed driver?

Unless the vehicle was taken without your permission, I hope so. Allowing your vehicle to be driven by an unlicensed driver is a serious judgment error, the kind that insurance companies do not like to underwrite.

Can an unlicensed owner of a car insure it?

Can a uninsured licensed driver drive a insured drivers car?

The rules and laws of insurance vary from state to state but generally speaking it is the automobile that is insured not the driver. So if your friend allows you to drive her insured car and you are involved in an accident you are covered under her policy(((IF her insurance policy does not stipulate restrictions banning unlicensed drivers from operating the vehicle))) in which case her insurance may not cover damages done to her vehicle or injuries to the unlicensed driver.

Who is responsible for an unlicensed driver driving another person vehicle involved in an accident?

The unlicensed driver is responsible for all damages. If they are a minor the parents may be forced to take responsibility. Sadly, the owner of the vehicle MUST make any insurance claims they are eligible to make. The owner can ask the unlicensed driver to pay any excess on the insurance and even take them to court if they refuse to pay it. The driver of the vehicle is responsible to pay any amounts not covered by the vehicles owners insurance, including damages to the car. If the insurance premium goes up or you loose your no claim bonus then I'm sorry but the driver is not liable for that. If the unlicensed driver drove the vehicle without permission from the vehicle owner then the vehicle owner must report that the car was stolen at the time of the accident, then provide the insurance company with the police report number (you can tell the police you don't want to press charges). Under these circumstances even if the insurance company pays out damages for the vehicle they may chase the unlicensed driver to pay them back.

If an unlicensed driver has an accident driving your car?

Any damage would not be covered by your insurance company especially if you gave them permission to drive it. Now if it was stolen....but you probably wouldn't want to say that, might get your unlicensed driver a criminal record. To add to that, if you say it was stolen and it is not and you don't roll over on the unlicensed driver, you will be investigate for insurance fraud and if they catch you, you will be denied on the claim and could possibly face criminal charges yourself.

Is your car covered if an uninsured and unlicensed driver drives it?

If they stole it, probably. If you were stupid enough to allow an unlicensed driver to drive your car, it's probably NOT covered under your comprehensive; it may or may not have liability. You should contact your insurance agent for a definitive answer.AnswerYou said an "uninsured driver". So,, If this unlicensed driver is not considered an insured driver under the terms of your Auto Insurance Policy then no, there will no coverage. Additionally if you allowed an unlicensed driver to drive your vehicle and an accident ensued, Your Insurance company may cancel your policy due to negligence on your part if they get wind of the matter. As stated above by the previous contributor, You should contact your insurance agent for assistance in determining who is considered insured under the terms of your policy. If you purchased Direct without an insurance agent, then you have no advocate, your just left up to the mercy of whomever answers the 800 number.

Is an unlicensed driver over the age of 18 allowed to drive if there is a licensed driver in the car?

Driving in a car at any age without a license is illegal. If caught, the car will be towed away and impounded. the licensed driver in the car may also lose his license for allowing the unlicensed driver to drive.
