I assume by "fish food" you mean standard flake fish food. Bettas are carnivores, so you can feed them many of the commonly available frozen fish foods (bloodworms, plankton, krill, tubifex worms, etc). You can also try tiny bits of raw shrimp from the grocery store and/or worms from the garden/yard. Give the fish a chance to check out and eat the new food, but be sure to remove anything the fish does not eat in about five minutes.
I have 2 goldfish and as a special treat I sometimes feed them a few peas - they can't be frozen and can't be warmed up in the microwave so make sure they are at room temperature. This also helps to stop constipation.
Remember still feed them fish food :D
They can eat fish fry, brine shrimp, white worms, daphnia, cyclops, glass worms, small earth worms and almost any finely chopped meat. There are also Betta pellets available at good pet shops.
Well, i would pick up some dried bloodworms from your local petstore. Remember though, these are treats, and not to be a betta's regular diet.
Yes, bettas can be fed on frozen or freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex worms, and regular tropical flake food. A betta should be fed several varieties of food in order to be at its healthiest.
A betta can live without food for several days when it has to, if you suddenly run out of food and need to go to the store. But don't try giving them people food.
This maybe is because old rotted food is in your bettas water.
I use Wardley Essentials Betta Food. My bettas learned to remember the look of the container and always get excited when they see it!
Yes you can feed it to a Betta, but most of it it will not be digestable for a Betta. Bettas are insectivores and need a proper diet made from insects etc. That is why pet shops have special Betta food for sale.
You will end up killing your Betta if you don't feed it properly. Canned fish for humans is no good for Bettas. The Betta will not eat it and it will poison the water.. Bettas are insectivorous fish and will eat Mosquito Larvae, Brine Shrimp etc. A Betta can live for some considerable time without food, so if you can't get to a pet shop and buy some Betta food, you can always order Betta food online and should get it within a week or so.
make sure you dont over feed your betta
Yes you can- but I've fed my male betta flake food and pellet food specifically for bettas.
Bettas can eat worms, brine shrimp, frozen live food, freeze dried live food, and that's it. DO NOT feed your bettas FLAKES. They will give you a look you will never see again.
it is not very good for the fish. ive owned many bettas and i do not advice you to feed it anything but betta food. all the best, fishLover
No. Bettas are insectivores and should be fed a proper diet. Special Betta pellets are available at good pet shops but they can get by on Tropical Fish flakes.
No, not only are bettas best as a solitary fish, but their needs are different including food and water temperatures.
Betta pellets are designed for Bettas to eat. Hermit crab pellets are designed for Hermit crabs to eat. Goldfish flakes are designed for Goldfish to eat. Are you getting the message? If you wish your Betta to do well, feed it Betta food.
Provided the fly had not been poisoned with fly spray it will be good food for your Betta. The more small flys it gets the healthier it will be. Mosquitos (and their larva) are also really good food for Bettas.
