I use Castrol GTX.
I personally use Castrol GTX High Mileage in my 1996 Golf. Regular Castrol GTX should be o.k. for a newer Golf. I always use a FRAM filter. I recently saw that Valvoline guarantees a cars engine life up to 300,000 miles if you use only Valvoline. I am sure there are restrictions and documentation that must take place but.................. I would look into Valvoline if I had a new car.

I have been using Castrol 10-40 GTX since it was bought new. I just got it back on the road and now use Castrol High Mileage 10-40. But its the weight that you want to look at. If you are up north and cold try 10-30, mid to south 10-40.

Depends on how many miles it has on it, I prefer High mileage castrol GTX 10/40 Detergent for most v-6 motors or I will use the synthetic oil to get longer life out of it.If it is low mileage then you can use castrol 10/30 or Mobil oil 10/30 or Texaco 10/30 or 10/40 depending on mileage. If it has a lot of miles on it the lower viscosity will cause it to burn or leak oil. hope you found what you were looking for thanks.
