It is now medically proven that cats can get a form of dementia. It has been found that the same plaque build up around the brain that happens in humans also happens in cats. This can lead to very similar symptoms as humans.
Any behavioral issue that a human may have a cat can have also. I do know that cats can have feline schizophrenia, and the symptoms for that is, skin rolling, a lot of tail wagging, (like a dog) and watching or looking at things that are actually not even there. They will move their eyes and head back and forth as if they see things. When they roll or twitch their skin, they will lick and lick, and bite at it, to see if they can stop it. If they can learn to just sit perfectly still, then it will go away, for the time being. When they are extra stressed or excited this is when it can start up again.

Alzheimers is a type of dementia so you can not really compare the two.However alzheimers is a very agressive disease so therefore i would consider it to be the worst of the two.
