Cats don't die from contact with rain. However, if they become soaked through and chilled, their immune system can become depressed and make them more susceptible to infections that could kill them.

Rain may be uncomfortable to cats. They are kind of like some people after they shower; some can't go to bed with wet hair and some can. Rain is typically cold, too. To be honest, I'm not too exact with this one.

Because they don't like the feel of it on their fur. It makes it stick down and mess it up so they have to clean it an extra time.
