Yes it can. This is because when you cough or sneeze especially if you have not washed your hands the bacteria from your mouth or nose can spread to for example a surface you may touch.This then can be further spread onto food and subsequently other people. It may then result in someone else catching your germs and aquiring the cold/flu you may have.
