That is a good question! No really I was told the only way you can tell the difference is to do a blood test. On the serious side, Havanese retain their color all of their life, where Coton's generally lose their color over time or the color will fade. I do have a Black and White Coton that still has her color at a year old. My tri-color's color has faded a lot, but retains the biscuit color, with black hair on the ears which is typical for the Coton de Tulear. Obviously the White Cotons remain white all of their life, this should go without saying.
I have a 3 year old Coton De Tulear. She has so far been pretty good. I have only had her a few days and she is a little timid around my grandchildren but in no way at all threatens to bite them or even growl at them (and they are pretty active children). So, I would say, yes, they would be good around children.
Hi, I am and experienced dog groomer. You can clip the hair of any dog and I have clipped many cotons. The breed standard is an unclipped coat. If that's your preference, find a responsible groomer to do it for you. If you hate it, it WILL grow back. It is hair after all. :)
Dying to know the same. I want to get one for my wife. It looks like my Coton de Tulear. All white, hair over the eyes, shorter legs, longer body, about 8-12 pounds. They do not shed nor so they have dander.
I can't do all 40 but I can do 15! Poodle, yorkshire terrier, Shih Tzu, Maltese, lagotto romagnolo, kerry blue terrier, chinese crested, bichon frise, miniature snauzer, coton de tulear, airedale terrier, havanese, peruvian inca orchid, bedlington terrier, and bergamasco
Mattie Cook was left alone with her mother because that is all she had left. She was known to be mean to her mother as a teenager.
If you are buying from a breeder that is a member of one of the Coton De Tuler clubs the price will be somewhere around $2000 for a companion dog and more for a show quality dog. The reason for this is that they are required to do health testing on all of their breeding dogs. They also buy the highest quality dogs to breed. If you buy from a none member breeder, the price is $650 and up. That's because the none member breeders are breeding dogs of questionable heritage and certainly not doing health testing.

He was left alone, abandoned by all he loved.
They are not venemous, but like all wild things they are best left alone.
