Here is the American Medical Association policy:
"At a minimum, a physician's ethical duties include terminating the physician-patient relationship before initiating a dating, romantic, or sexual relationship with a patient."
Yes but if the patient is a patient of that doctor, the doctor would HAVE to refuse. Doctors, like everyone else, have a rite to a private life and can go out on dates. However, the rules (for the doctor) are that the the relationship between a doctor and that doctor's patient must be professional, because doctors are in a position to take advantage of their patients (who may be feeling vulnerable).
where they live ... why not What you can't ask for is a date.
of course they can. doctors are people. they can be attracted to whoever they want. can they date this person? probably, as long as they're not his current patient.
Just one: they can ask the patient if they are bisexual or gay, and if the patient answers yes, then they are bisexual or gay.
If you are this doctor's patient by the "Medical Code of Ethics" he could lose his license if he dates a patient. If you aren't his patient then there is no reason he can't ask you out on a date. If you aren't his patient and you strongly feel he's interested in you ask him out for drinks. Good luckMarcy This is more of an add-on question than an answer. Could someone expand on the above answer? Why would the doctor have to lose his medical license, if the patient is being treated for something non threatening. Would it be OK if the patient is OK with the relationship? Is there anyway to move such a relationship in a way that would be OK to date or have a personal relationship. There has to be some way for it to be OK, in situations where the patient is not vulnerable. Ideas or thought? you should get another doctor if you think you could have something with your current doctor. When the doctors actually become doctors they have to swear by the code of ethics, it keeps the creepy doctors from asking out everyone and keeps things professional, like most people like it to be with doctors.
If your a girl- either be assertive if they guy takes or long or be patient if you haven't known him for awhile. If your a boy- be brave and ask her out a date!
Doctors should be patient with all Patients - it seems that this has become a real wide-spread issue.
patient
They care about their patient
Doctors and emergency health professionals should never turn away a patient.
It is important because if you had a mammogram in the past then the doctors can compare the old mammogram film to the new one and see if there are any changes.
