yes. they can. faeces from dogs, cats and foxes can have toxocara Canis in it. this is a type of worm which affects animals and HUMANS. although it may not lead to an eye infection, it's very nasty and can result in blindness! toxocara doesn't just stay in faeces either, it infects the soil too!
