If you have a deaf dog and a hearing dog; it's probably more going to be a 50/50. What ever one is dominate.

I don't really think this question can be answered as deafness being a physical trait like hair color or eye color...an example is a human baby is not always born deaf because of the parents and deaf human babies can be born to 'normal' parents. Certain breeds have a higher chance of being deaf than others; however, deafness is a condition in which has no limit to dog breed. One should ask the question, "Why is this dog deaf?" One popular example is homozygous dogs (ie merle-to-merle in herding and other merle colored dogs). These should not be bred because the chance of a totally 'normal' litter is not high. Deafness is only one outcome to this genetics problem and other problems can rear their heads if litters are born, such as blindness due to abnormalities of the eyes, etc. Deaf dogs can be born by fluke, for lack of better words, to correct, normal parents,and to the most responsible breeders, but they still should not be bred. The only dogs that should be bred are those of healthy lineage and represent their breed to the fullest.

∙ 15y agoNo, dogs in general are not deaf. Dogs have extremely good sense of hearing, which is about 40 times better than a humans. Some dogs are born deaf or may become deaf, but a normal dog is not deaf.

∙ 11y agoThere is no clear-cut answer to this question. There are several causes of deafness, some of which are heritable, some of which are not. If the deafness is caused by trauma or illness, the answer is "no, this type of deafness cannot be passed onto the bulldog's offspring." However, if the deafness is congenital (present at birth), there is a greater possibility that is is genetically heritable. Some forms of heritable deafness require that both parents carry the trait (whether or not they are deaf), while other forms can be passed on by just one of the parents. Without genetic testing (and there isn't much available for deafness in bulldogs), or verydetailedpedigree information, it is impossible to estimate the likelyhood that a deaf American bulldog will have deaf puppies. However it is important to note that the AKC highly recommends that dogs diagnosed with any kind of congenital and/or heritable deafness (full, partial, bilateral or unilateral) be removed from the breeding pool.
