not if the water is already frozen then the duck can just walk across it...but if they're are in the water while it is freezing i have no idea.....

It's probably not the best thing for them. Just like any other animal ducks could become dehydrated from the salt water. I would stick will FRESH WATER.

well of course they live in fresh water areas. but they are birds so they dont stay in water they hunt and drink from it. ducks do float on top of it but generally fresh water. not salt water. and to be more specific places like lakes, and ponds. no still water becuase of bacteria and parsites.
