No, ferret cannot eat nuts. They are unable to digest fruits, grains and vegetables. Nuts would probably cause intestinal blockage, and without surgery, the ferret would die. Ferrets are closely related to polecats, which consume only vegetable matter within the entrails of their prey. As such, a ferret's teeth are entirely unsuited to eating nuts as bits may get stuck between the teeth where they will rot or cause abcesses.

Ferrets are lactose intolerant. Dairy products are known to cause stomach upsets such as vomiting and diarrhea when eaten by ferrets. Ferrets are carnivores and so should be fed a good quality ferret food. Meat such as chicken, rabbit, lamb, beef, turkey etc. Chicken and duck eggs are also good and are a great source of protein. Special ferret pet food is available in pet stores. Cat/ kitten or dog / puppy foods are not suitable as they contain too much plant matter.

No. Ferrets are what are known as "obligate carnivores". This means that their body is designed to eat only meat. They find it very hard to digest other types of food and it can cause stomach upsets such as constipation or diahrreah. In severe cases it can cause the ferrets intestine to become blocked.

Ferrets are carnivores and should be fed raw meat, eggs and special ferret food that is available in pet stores. Dog/puppy or Cat/kitten foods are not suitable as they contain too much plant and not enough meat. Try to be the ferret food with the highest meat content. Make sure your ferret has a fresh dish of water or water bottle beside his food dish as some ferrets will refuse to eat if there isn't water nearby
