No, we are very balanced people. We contribute to society in many ways. We pay our taxes. We trim our lawns. We look after our health. We donate to charity with our money and our time. We join the military. We join the police. We rescue people in emergencies. If anything, gay people increase balance to society by adopting unwanted children that straight parents either can't or won't raise.
They don't really affect people in the military at all. In fact, many of the people IN the military are gay. Gay relationships have no effect on anybody else, but the people they concern. Homophobes THINK that gays have a direct effect on them, but they really don't. I have a feeling that the next generation will look with embarrassment on their homophobic ancestors, just as we look with embarrassment on our racist ancestors.

Gays people may legally serve in the military. There is no requirement to sign papers stating you are not gay. In fact, the military will also recognize spouses of gay soldiers.
