You have to remove the alternator and the oil dipstick tube (put a plug in the dipstick hole to keep antifreeze from getting in the oil) then remove 3 bolts from the thermostat housing (on the side of the block behind the alternator) put the new thermostat in with the spring entering inward (into the block) and with the air bleed hole straight upward and re-install alternator etc. in reverse order of removal.
