No, there are some hermit crabs called purple pinchers and they happen to be land crabs.
i am not shure but i think they can for a little wile
Hermit Crabs can NOT live without water. In your crabitat, you should offer both fresh water and salt water.
The kind of hermit crabs most people think of are Land Hermit Crabs. They live on land, and need at least enough water to submerge themselves. Land Hermit Crabs do need sea salt to keep their body chemistry balanced, and as such, need access to both salt and fresh water. Marine Hermit Crabs require a full saltwater aquarium to survive. Such tanks are elaborate, and should be researched thoroughly before purchase. Saltwater pets of all sorts are often regarded as difficult to care for.
Hermit crabs live on land, for they only need water to drink, not to live on/in.
Land Hermit Crabs consume fresh water. It is suggested by some pet stores to have two watering dishes. One for bottled fresh water and the other for bottled salt water. The hermit crab can choose between the two depending upon the nutrients it feels it needs. If you do not have salt water- that is fine, it is not necessary.
no, so don't put water in your tank that is to deep. It is still important to have drinking water, though, so try putting a sponge in some water instead. yes, they swim but in shallow water,i have a hermit crab and it has a bowl with shallow water in it.My hermit crab goes swimming sometimes, but don't force the hermit crab.
No, it is not legal. You must have a permit to harvest hermit crabs from the beach even if it is only one. Additionally, the majority of the hermit crabs found on the beach especially in North America are marine hermit crabs and they will not be able to survive in the kind of habitat that is designed for Land Hermit Crabs. They need a full salt water reef setup and must live under water.
Lizards can live with hermits crabs and birds but i only know its possible in the wild
Land hermit crabs: It's important to have a saltwater as well as freshwater container available in the habitat. Marine hermit crabs: They should only live in salt water if saltwater crabs, or freshwater if freshwater crabs.
it can depending on the tipe of hermit some cand live 8 months and some can only live 24 hours
no they cant im afraid unless they were born in tap water. otherwise they can only live in salt water. also, you cannot put salt into water and call that 'salt water' because that is simply dumb.
When you have a 20 gallon tank for only 2 or you have 30 hermit crabs, bubbling thing in water and dont have any friends execpt hermies
No. only some beaches have hermit crabs.
You can tell a land hermit crab from a water hermit crab by looking at the claws/arms or legs. If it is a water crab it will be blueish and if land crab it will be pinkish purpleish. If your crab is a water crab don't just throw it in water and leave it there, put a tiny bowl in it's tank or cage that is low to the ground and make sure that the water level is a bit lower than the hermit crabs top of its legs. Also have a wet sponge for each kind of hermit crab in the crabs tank.
